Prof.Dr.Syed Imran Shah is the chair of Pediatrics department at RMDTH affiliated with WMC Abbottabad. He joined WMC as an Assistant Professor in 2011 and is among the pioneers of this institute with an experience of more than 16 years of clinical and teaching. In 2014 he was assigned as a supervisor of the post graduate trainees by the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Pakistan. His latest achievement came in with a degree of Masters in Health Research by KMU in 2019.
In our Department of Pediatric Dentistry we have a wide range of approaches to help a child complete the required needed dental treatment. Educational goals of the department are to enable the dental student at the undergraduate level to develop a strong competency in pediatric dentistry and increase theoretical and clinical judgment, technical skills and case-organizational abilities. Demonstrated competencies are emphasized in preventive measures and treatment of conditions including plaque control, patient education and emergency treatment of pain & infection. Restoration of Primary and Permanent teeth to proper form and function. Maintenance and/or restoration of space in the Dental arch to achieve or retain aesthetics & function. Recognition of malocclusion with priority provided for interceptive services. The aim of the department is to improve the oral health of infants, children, adolescents and their families with special emphasis being given to improving the oral health of children with special health care needs and children of low-income backgrounds or with limited access to oral health services.
